Easier travel itinerary

Hi all,

Planning on staying in either Interlaken or grindelwald. I'm getting pretty confused on the best way to see the below places by public transport. For example which places can I combine into the same day?

Stay in Interlaken or grindelwald to see the below:

Lake brienz
Wengen
Murren
Grindelwald
Lauterbrunnen
Jungfrau

What time of year is this for?

You'd need a minimum of 3 days to accomplish your list...
Lauterbrunnen + Murren
Wengen + Jungfraujoch + Grindelwald
Lake Brienz

We stayed 5 nights in Wengen, and I would recommend it over either Interlaken or Grindelwald. We combined the following sites:

Jungfraujoch (first train), took Eiger Express down to Grindelwald terminal then train to Grindelwald. Took cable car up to First for thrill walk & mountain carts. Then took the train back to Lauterbrunnen and on to Wengen.

Combined Murren (and Allmendhubel and Gimmelwald) and Lauterbrunnen

Visited Lake Brienz for half day: took the train from Wengen to Brienz, then the boat to the Geissbach funicular. Lunch at the hotel terrace, then boat back to Interlaken and train to Lauterbrunnen for dinner.

Interlaken is not a charming town. It is a transportation hub. Grindelwald is a bustling resort town with lots of traffic and tour buses.

That is these are so helpful. Il have at least 4 days. I just needed to know what to combine with what logically.

I know about Interlaken... It's purely to be close to the train station to be able to get to where we want to visit easily without carrying backpacks around.

My itinerary is so far:

Fly into Zurich
Straight to lucerne (2 nights)
Lucerne to Interlaken? (4 nights)
Interlaken to Monteux (2 nights) golden pass express
Montreux to Geneva airport

I'm not sure if I should replace Interlaken with grindelwald/murren/wegen.

Interlaken is only attractive as a train hub really.

Wengen is just as convenient for your list of sights you want to see and much more beautiful.

Don't you really want to wake up IN the Alps? If the answer is yes, then Wengen or Murren is the answer. You won't regret it. Safe travels!

I'm getting pretty confused on the best way to see the below places by public transport.

Use sbb.ch to see routes and travel times between locations.

Advising on how to group these outings over four days really depends on what you want to do at each location. Do you want to take a boat the lake, get off at Giessbach Falls and maybe follow that up with a walk in Brienz? In Grindelwald or Mürren do you want to go up higher to First mountain and the Schilthorn? Are you interested in hiking?

My own approach would be to check the weather each day and choose your location and activities based on that. On any given day Brienz and Mürren might have a variation in weather, cloud cover, etc. Even very close locations like Grindelwald First and Wengen can differ somewhat. Having an open plan can be to your advantage.
