Has anyone hiked Mount Pilatus early morning to catch the sunrise at the top? Also are the views while hiking up during the daylight something that cannot be missed. We are planning to gondola back down.

I'm not trying to sound flippant but, if you plan to hike up to see the sunrise at the top, wouldn't the hike up be mostly in the dark? I understand it's about a 3-4 hour hike, but maybe I'm wrong about that. Just curious.

Yeah we are trying to weigh whether to hike in the dark to catch the sunrise on top or is it better to start at the bottom at around sunrise for the views in the daylight
