Early June - summer season?

Planning a trip to Switzerland - landing in Geneva and want to do a short stay in Chamonix followed by town X and then Zermatt, back to Geneva (where we fly out from). I have a total of 14 days including flight days and am traveling with 3 kids (2, 7, 11). Our trip will start on June 6 and end on the 20th.

1) We’ve booked our flights and am now realizing that the “summer season” may not be open in a lot of the places I want to visit - can someone speak to this?
2) Looking for a suggestion for a town that is on the way from Chamonix to Zermatt that we can break our journey in for a few days (We want to use public transit, not driving ourselves). Ideally a cute mountain town similar to Murren where we can spend a couple of days.
3) Does the itinerary seem fine in terms of the route - we have yet to figure out the breakdown of days per city, open to suggestions!

We are into nature walks, easy hikes (considering we have young children) & general sightseeing that may be entertaining for the kids.
Thanks

If you have 14 days you have time to go to Mürren. Most of Mürren will be accessible mid June. Some things don’t open until June 15, but you can still do a decent amount.

Otherwise, I like the Region Dents du Midi above Champery (just beyond Martigny on the way from Chamonix to Zermatt). No idea when their summer season starts though.
