Hi,
I need the best way to drive from Malpensa Airport (Milan) to Lauterbrunnen. If we leave Malpensa by 1:00pm, do we need around 4-5 hours if we take into account traffic? We will be there in late May, so most likely the mountain roads will still be closed, and we must use the tunnels. Thank you for your tips.
Via Michelin suggests taking the route with the Gotthard Tunnel. Be sure to pick up a Swiss vignette sticker when you enter Switzerland. 4 hours, maybe a bit optimistic.
I think the best site for route planning is
I'm not sure where you are going after Lauterbrunnen, but having a car in Lauterbrunnen is more a hassle than help. To get to any of the high villages above the Valley you have to take some form of public transportation - either a gondola, bus or train.
Looks to me like it would take about the same time driving vs. on the train - around 4 hours.
Thank you very much for your replies.
We will continue to Lyon (France), and on the way back, we will stop at Bern and at Lucerne. Driving by car is our "tradition" since many years in our trips (4 people).
