Driving from Intlerlaken to Brienz

Can anyone let me know if the construction on the road from Brienz to Interlaken is creating very long traffic jams? Think it's the A8. We are looking to stay near Brienz and drive to different places in the area and saw that there are delays. So we might have to change our reservation. Thank you.

Don't know about the road, but for years, my wife and I have stayed in Brienz with a Swiss Rail Pass. Each day we would decide if we wanted to take the train to somewhere or just hop on a boat (included in the Rail Pass). Sometimes we would take the boat to Interlaken and the train back. Maybe on a very busy day you could enjoy the boat trip instead of drive.

The A 8 has often traffic jams, and there are works going on. It is also a rather boring road (mostly through tunnels).
You are also doing yourself a disservice by basing your holiday plan around having a car. A car means that you always will need to return to where you abandoned it whereas using the excellent public transit system means you can do interesting circuits, and combine things, like a train ride with a boat ride.

If the A8 has problems, take route 6 along the north shore of the lake, we have found it to be a pleasant drive. We loke trave3ling by car because of the independence it give us, plus if we are one minute late getting to it, it will still be waiting for us, not disappearing down the tracks, and on a rainy day it takes us to our hotel, not the train station. It's also much easier to get to places like Isenfluh or the Ballenberg museum.

I was in Brienz last week. Yes, there were traffic jams. I think much time would have been saved WITHOUT a car. Public transit means greater freedom. Finding parking in Brienz was very difficult.
