Drive through Switzerland to Fussen?

Would you drive from Chamonix through Lauterbrunnen to Fussen, Germany?
Thanks,
Jean

It's a bit of a detour. Lauterbrunnen is at the end of a dead-end valley. The quickest route (see viamichelin.com ) is 558 Km, 6h35 and goes no nearer than Bern.

But, if you want to stop of in Lauterbrunnen on the way it is a nice place.

P.S. It is Füssen (Ü with two dots over it) I assume you want. There is a totally different place called Fussen (no dots).

Thank you, yes it's Füssen with 2 dots, too lazy to put them in; I guess I should differentiate so people know what I mean...

I'm trying to drive through great scenery; been to Lucerne & Zurich so wanted to bypass them on the way to Germany!

Jean, the correct spelling is not so people know where you mean. People are intelligent and can guess or ask. It is so stupid computer websites (like http://www.viamichelin.com/ ) or dumb satnavs don't send you to the wrong place.

The most direct route from Chamonix to Füssen takes you through the upper Rhône valley in the canton of Vallais (passing by the turn-off to Zermatt), and up the Grimsel pass. The scenery is absolutely spectacular.

Lauterbrunnen is out of your way, and although beautiful, it might seem like a far detour for more of the same.

Sounds good; where would you stay (1 or 2 nights) on the way to Füssen, Germany to break up the drive?

Thanks,
Jean
