Does Swiss Pass cover Pilatus?

I read this on a site.? What does 50% discounted from 2018 mean?

Pilatus
Cableway/train from Kriens or Alpnachstad to Pilatus: free
This section will be 50% discounted from 2018.
Train to Lucerne or Alpnachstad: free
Bus from Lucerne to Kriens: free

I take it to mean that in the year 2018, the pass gives you a discount of 50% off the regular fare up Mount Pilatus. Evidently the discount was different in 2017 (or perhaps there was none).

Having just done this a month or two ago, I can tell you that the Swiss Pass for 2017 covered 100% of the cost of the cogwheel train up Pilatus and the cableway down. It sounds like it will only provide a 50% discount in 2018.

Dave's understanding is correct.

The cableway/train from Kriens or Alpnachstad to Pilatus is fully covered by a Swiss Travel Pass in 2017 but this section will return to being discounted 50% from January 1, 2018 (as it was prior to 2017). Discount still requires using a counted travel day on this pass. Other trains, buses, and boats, and museums around Luzern are still fully covered.

Details can change at any time, but most often at the start of each year. These are based on contracts negotiated with the transport operator.

On a more positive note, the Swiss Travel Pass will fully cover the gondola lift up Mt. Schilthorn in 2018. (For many years, the portion above Muerren has only been discounted.)
