Do hotels provide toiletries?

This will be our first visit to Switzerland. To the larger hotels provide soap, shampoo, and conditioner either in shower dispensers or in small packages?

I can't think of a budget hotel that does not at least provide soap. Shampoo in the slightly better, probably conditioner. All of the higher end provide that and more. You can also purchase any of these items at local stores if you want your choice of brands.

Cindy,

At least some of the hotels I've used in Switzerland have had a squeeze bottle of soap installed in the shower. The soap is sometimes a combination hair/body wash. I don't recall if any have provided conditioner since I don't usually use that.

Bathroom amenities depend on the hotel quality the property strives for. The Swiss Hotel Association https://www.hotelleriesuisse.ch/en/pub/index.htm star rating criteria:
https://www.hotelleriesuisse.ch/files/pdf8/Kriterienkatalog_Normen_2015_2020_CH_en1.pdf

The "M" items are mandatory to be awarded the designated quality rank. Criteria 166-207 address bathroom amenities and 190-193 address your question:

190 Soap or body wash at the wash basin

191 Body wash or shower gel at the shower/bath tub

192 Shampoo

193 Personal care products in bottles

One star hotels are only required to provide item 190. The above four items are mandatory for 2 star and higher hotels. A one star hotel could provide other amenities but that would be beyond minimum expectation.
