Hi…
I’m looking for a nice restaurant to go on a Sunday evening in Zurich…
Seems like a lot are closed Sundays….
Any ideas ?
Thank you …lynda
We like Mère Catherine in the old town area. A nice little patio if you wish to sit outside. They are open on Sundays from 11:30-23:00. We make reservations.
Ask your hotel ...
I rarely ask the hotel; have almost always found they still recommend touristy places. They get a kickback…
Well let's be fair, they might tend to recommend places that tourists will like but that doesn't mean they are bad choices. My Paris hotel made 2 very good recommendations to us AND called to get us in. Do they sometimes get a free meal? Probably, I would hope so since they are sending them business. But if they were lousy suggestions, word would get around (especially these days with the intergoogles).
Many places in Niederdorf (older part of town) are open on Sunday and you can find anything from steaks to Italian to tapas. The famous Hiltl vegetarian restaurant is open Sundays, as is the Zeughauskeller (popular, a bit touristy, but nice location and a decent place for Swiss food/beer). You could also look at Alpenrose in Zuri-West if you are staying on that side of town.
Swiss Chuchi or Rheinfelder Bierhalle. Zeughauskeller is good but very touristy.
Don't know if it's still there but I went to an Italian restaurant in Zurich that was located below my B & B which was Dakini's. Brauerstrasse 87 is the address. The chef was from Calabria and altho there is nothing on the menu that's Calabrese, he made me a dish when he found out my grandfather was from there. I didn't know what I was going to be served. It was just a big bowl of pasta but it was EXACTLY like my grandfather used to make.
