Does anyone have any suggestions about a restaurant in Lucerne that has good food and a good view? We are a family of 5 and are on a budget, so high end restaurants are likely going to be out of our price range. Thank you for any information you might be able to give me about this.

Every restaurant us high end in Lucern. Expect you pay $20+ per hamburger or fish and chips at a pub.
There was a store that had carry out, but the day we wanted to buy dinner there it was a closed if a holiday

The Manora restaurant, at the Manor department store, is a cafeteria-style restaurant with reasonably priced (for Switzerland!) fresh food. There are tables on the outdoor terrace with terrific views! There are a number of restaurants along the river; most have menus posted. We ate at one (I don't recall which) that was fairly reasonable; it was pleasant to enjoy an outdoor table along the river.

I too enjoyed the Manora for lunch, It's part of the department store and I believe that hours are limited. It's closed on Sunday and I'm guessing closes when the department store closes. It may work if you can eat a very early (late afternoon) dinner.
