Dinner in Lausanne

We are meeting friends for dinner in Lausanne that we haven't seen for ten years. Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant within walking distance to the train station?

Dinner can get quite expensive in Lausanne -- up to the 2 star Michelin range. Did you have a price range? Swiss-French? Up the hill to the first rise is Le Table d'Edgard in the Lausanne Palace (easily 100CHF+/person). Or for something more casual, Cafe de Grancy just below the station.

Note there is quite a hill climb directly above and below the station, although there are some nice choices nearby and some not-so nice ones (my apartment was a few blocks away). But, note you can easily take the metro line up to the heart of town and down to the waterfront quite easily -- it connects directly at the station. There are some good choices lower towards the lake for a mid-range meal.

If you're willing to get on a train, our B&B had a fantastic restaurant and it's about 10 min. train ride outside the city. It's across from the Grandvaux train station, so you don't have to walk far -- the Auberge de la Gare. It has a 4 1/2 star review on Trip Advisor. We had the perch and steak tartare (their specialties) and it was amazing! Highly recommend a reservation, as we were there on a Tuesday and it was full.
