If you've been to both, do you have a preference ? I know Des Alpes is more centrally located but has more noise. I understand that Beau Sejour is less central but has a breakfast buffet which appeals to me. Hotel Beau Sejour actually has slightly higher reviews.
Travel dates are early September 2026 for 2 adults and I have recently secured 2 nights at both as of this morning. Yes, I am going to quickly cancel the one I don't want. Just need help deciding, please.

I stayed at Des Alpes 2 years ago in a room facing the waterfront and didn't have any issues with noise and it was a clean, comfortable room. Great location and they had a nice breakfast buffet.
Thanks for the review. Unfortunately, from what I'm reading, Hotel Des Alpes doesn't offer a breakfast buffet any longer. It's a meal voucher.
Check the air conditioning status of each hotel. That may help you narrow it down. It has been several years since I stayed at Hotel Des Alpes so its situation may well have changed. At that time it did not have air conditioning and I spent a few very hot nights missing it.
Having breakfast included is a big deal in an expensive country like Switzerland. (I’m still struggling to accept I had to pay the equivalent of $33 at a hamburger restaurant last summer for lunch😀)
There's another point in favor of Beau Sejour. It offers A/C whereas Des Alpes does not. I think my decision is about to be made....

It sounds like you may have made your choice but I’ll add my two-cents because we were booked for one and stayed at the other. We were on a RS tour that was booked for the Hotel des Alpes. Our plan is always to arrive a few days ahead of a tour and stay at the tour hotel for convenience. Hotel des Alpes was booked up, so we made a reservation at Beau Sejour based on reviews and cost. They were lovely to work with, especially after the 2 days opened up at des Alpes and we cancelled.
The location of des Alpes was a key for us because of its proximity to the train station and city center. We were never bothered by noise and 2 of our rooms fronted the river. There was no AC, but Dyson fans in each room. We were given vouchers for breakfast. We were able to walk from the train station to the hotel.
We ended up walking by the Beau Sejour during a lake stroll and a bus ride to the Transport Museum. From the outside, the interior looked lovely and it’s across the street from the park along the river. It is a substantial walk from the main center, but a bus runs along the street in front and your hotel gives you a free transit pass.

Now, I'm leaning towards Hotel Des Alpes!! The close proximity to just about everything is quite appealing....

just so that you know that the air conditioners at the Beau Sejour and their two self check-in associated properties are portable units furnished in the summer to each room...

We stayed at Beau Sejour in late May last year and AC was unnecessary. It's a nice 20 minute walk into town or you can pick up the bus right outside the front door. It has a breakfast but it wasn't free and we didn't bother. Our room was huge with a balcony and lake view and the service was impeccable. Cost was 280CHF/night which was about 100CHF cheaper than anything we found in town. I highly recommend it. I know nothing about the other hotel except that we did consider it and choose the other.
We had friends who stayed at Hotel Des Alpes. They said that there were people smoking on the dining terraces, and they did not like the hotel because of the smoke.
The air conditioning at Hotel Beau Sejour would be worth it, and the views of the lake would be lovely. We stayed at a hotel along the lake and wish we had gotten a sea view room.
We stayed at Hotel Beau Sejour and loved everything about it! Excellent staff; immaculately clean; great breakfast; gorgeous walk along the lake to the Old Town. We were also given a complimentary pass for the local bus system if we prefered not to walk. Our trip was in September and air conditioning was absolutely necessary as temperatures reached the high 80s. The a/c in our room worked really well, and we were so happy that we had booked this hotel. Another plus was that it was a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the Old Town, so in our opinion, it was more peaceful. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!
agh! what's a girl to do ?!? I am so torn! I don't like cig smoke wafting into my room but I love being centrally located. I love the idea of the breakfast buffet and the glowing reviews but that one is a good 18 minute walk (but has a free bus pass).... sigh... I'm indecisive!
I know, I know... first world problem, for sure. I'm thankful I know where my next meal is coming from and that I have clean drinking water. This is just a silly little decision.
Something I would still keep in the mix as you decide is air conditioning. Hopefully the weather will get cooler, but we have had intense heat for about two months now. I live in an apartment without AC and I can tell you it has not been very enjoyable! :-(

I see that there is a bus stop right by the Hotel Beau Sejour and I count 8 busses/hour heading toward the train station/old town area. Take a look at SBB to see - that is quite a few.
Having had 3 very uncomfortable nights in the heat at Hotel Des Alpes previously, and that was with a fan, this would be a no brainer for me……
