Guten Tag!
I'd like to take some day trips by car up into the Alps from the Montreux / Luasanne area. I'll also be using my car to explore some quaint towns in the French Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions. My wife and I like quaint villages, mountains, rivers, lakes, gardens, taking pictures, and architecture and history. We'll be in Switzerland in mid-May so I'm not sure if snow will still be around or even a factor when driving. Can anyone recommend what villages or towns would be good to visit up in the Swiss Alps without driving me too far from my base?
