We will be in Lauterbrunnen in September…..tried this method one year and it worked out great…..we hike every other day, weather willing…..and on the off days we train to day trips. One we took 2 years ago was a day trip to Hotel Geissbach…..boated there from Interlaken and had lunch….it was delightful. Anyone have more ideas for days like this out of Lauterbrunnen? Thank you!!!
Hi Jane. Glad to hear you’re going back. 😊
Have you been to the open-air museum?
Thun castle and a boat ride to see the 5 castles.
Jane, have you decided to stay in Lauterbrunnen rather than Wengen?
Hello Jane,
We will be in the Lauterbrunnen - staying in Muerren - the first week September and are considering a day trip to Adelboden.
Some years ago we did a day trip to Gruyeres which was interesting and fun. It does make a for long day though so an early start is needed if leaving from the valley. We did a stop in Broc at the chocolate factory so that added time.
We LOVE Lauterbrunnen….and called this week to secure our room and could only get 4 nights at the Silberhorn…..so we will be in Wengen at Hotel Falken for an additional 3 nights…..hate to have to move but even at this early date that is all we could secure……
Hi Jane,
How wonderful to be heading back to Switzerland! Although we spent a week in Wengen last year, we didn't make it to Meirigen and Reichenbach Falls...an easy trip from Lauterbrunnen. If you do get there, hope you'll do a short report on the area.
We had the BO Pass, and we enjoyed going to First and walking to Bachalpsee. At First, there is a restaurant overlooking the area, so that would be a nice reward.
We didn't take time to eat because we wanted to return to Wengen via the Eiger Express gondola.
