We will be staying in Grindelwald for 5 nights and wondered if it possible to do a day trip to Zermatt. Trying to limit moving from hotel to hotel. TIA

3 hours by train with three changes, so doable but too far for a day trip in my opinion. Your opinion might be different though.

Honestly, it's not worth the effort. It will take about three hours by train one way, and at least three connections....that's six hours of travel and it might be cloudy when you get there :(

As much as I loved Zermatt I wouldn't bother unless I was going to spend at least 1 night and the better part of 2 days.

I didn’t think it was doable, but I thought I would ask. I think it best we spend 2 nights in Zermatt…hope we have good weather. Going next September.
