I would love to see some of the beautiful mountains in Switzerland but I only have one day (no overnight) and I am in Basel.
Where would you recommend to go? It seems like I would be on trains all day long because of the distance. Also, I will be there April 7, so a lot of the funiculars or railways are not running.

I would see the sites in Basel. Come back when you have more time to ride the scenic trains in Switzerland. Mardee who posts on here really enjoyed taking walks in some of the old-time Basel neighborhoods. Maybe you can look up her report on Basel.

Take the train from Basel to Lauterbrunnen at least.
If it is sunny only go up to the Schilthorn from Lauterbrunnen.

It is 2 1/2 hours to Lauterbrunnen. Start at 7:25 am and you only have one train change at Interlaken Ost.
