Day trip Geneva Help!

I will be spending a day (I know not long) in Geneva end of June with my family including a 14-year-old. Any suggestions on "must sees" while we are there. We will be staying in Annecy, so I assume driving over and parking somewhere is the best plan.

Thanks!!

Well half an hour in the car and 2 hours by bus or bus and train - yes, driving may be a good idea. Parking isn't all that easy in Geneva but there is a good public transit system and you could park a little out of the centre.

When I was in Geneva I spent all my time out of town because it didn't appeal to me all that much - I explored neighboring France and Lausanne and Montreux. Loved Lausanne but that may be too far for you to go?

We spent time in Geneva this summer and didn't find parking to be a problem...as long as we were willing to pay$$$! Plenty of garages in the city center.
Our 15 year old was with us and we really enjoyed exploring the excavated space under the main cathedral in the old city. They have dug down to the 1st century and everything is color-coded so you can tell from what era everything is. There is everything from skeletons to Roman mosaic floors to wells and other amazing oddities. The old town is filled with antiquarian shops that contain things we wouldn't dream of finding in shops here in the US!
If you or your child are into science, you can visit CERN, just on the northern outskirts of Geneva near the airport. Make a reservation and take a tour of the large hadron collider visitor center and exhibit. It's incredible what they are doing there...CERN Tour Reservations
We went to Geneva with low expectations based on things we had read but were very pleasantly surprised by the city! Enjoy your day there...
