Day trip from Zurich to Liechtenstein

We are travelling to Zurich at the end of July. My son and I would like to do a day trip to Liechtenstein. I really don't want to rent a car.

Has anyone done this on their own using bus/train? If so, did you pre-book? There seems to be a tour on GreyLines but it is not opened for the summer yet. Any advice? TIA

Just use the www.sbb.ch/en website to look op times from wherever you are in Zurich to wherever you want to be in Liechentstein. The trip planner can do door-to-door planner from and to any street address.

There you will also see the price. Since this is just normal mass transit you can easily buy your ticket at the station on the day of travel.

Liechtenstein is however not worth the trip in my opinion. Its a pretty boring standard Swiss town where the cars have different license plates...

There really is not much to see in Lichtenstein, but I understand why someone wants to go there anyway. Thus, I would pair Lichtenstein with a sight nearby e.g. Werdenberg (a picturesque and very old town with a castle, a short bus ride from Vaduz) or a hike along the Walensee (between Quinten and Weesen, for example) or you could go all the way to Chur which is the biggest town in the region.

you can get a selfie outside the McDonalds. Quite a nice one actually. Not much more to see there, IMHO, but if you need to check off small countries that's one way...

Yes - this is to check off the small country:). Thanks for the advise. Sounds like it will be pretty easy to figure out.
