Day trip bag/pack for Jungfrau?

Last fall I used a small Osprey brand backpack to carry what we needed each day when we left our hotel for the day but found it's lack of structure and overall 'floppiness' made it not very comfortable much of the time. we chose it becausre it was easy to pack in our carry on luggage for the flights. What do you folks use just for valuables, rain jackets, water bottles for day on the trains, hiking, and in the villages of the Jungfrau? Bonus points if it is a good solution to carry for day out in Paris as well.

Thanks!

I suggest you consider a bag that can be used as your personal item on the plane. The best way to choose a bag, IMO, is to go to REI (or a similar store if you don't have REI where you live) and try on what they have there. Bring along your rain jacket, water bottle and a small pouch with your wallet and phone so that you are getting a realistic idea of how it will feel to carry. Don't rule out a sling or other cross-body type bag. Some of them can be worn in a variety of ways to make them work in different contexts. Another good source of bags is Sierra.com, which has a very good return policy.

Thx G3rry for the reply. We both already have a personal item (small backpack) just makes the size for our under seat item allowance on our flights, but while they are not large they are larger than what I would prefer to carry around all day. We packed the mpty Osprey pack into it for the flights. I should have mentioned that, so that's on me for not giving pertinent info, We could bring a smaller personal item that could also be used as a day pack but we need the space since we don't check luggage and just fly with carry-on and personal item. Thanks for your reply! I do apprecaite it!

We bought these (or a similar design from the same brand) a few years ago and took them on our recent hike in Murren. They have more than one size/design. Raincoat, water bottle, snacks etc small purse etc can all fit in one of these. When we bought them, they were available on Amazon.
