Day Boat trips on Lake Geneva

We are going to be in Montreux for 3 days in August. I think we will take one day of sightseeing by boat. I like the idea of going to France across the lake. Any suggestions for our day-itinerary of Lake Geneva boat-tripping?

Not a suggestion that will get you to France, but I really enjoyed walking from Montreux to the Chateau de Chillon and then taking the boat back (to Lausanne but can get off earlier in Montreux). We toured the castle, but the walk and boat ride themselves were wonderful even if you don't want to see the castle.

We took a cruise/ferry from Lausanne CH to Èvian-les-Bains FR. it happened to be on a Saturday so there was a colorful market to enjoy in Èvain. The ferry may have made a couple of other stops but Èvian was our destination.

Don't miss a trip on the lake. It was one of our high points! So beautiful! We arrived by train to Montreux, (do walk along the waterfront there!!), then took the local bus to the Chateau, and later the boat to Lausanne.

Don't forget the sunscreen and lip balm- a few hours on the boat and we were fried!

We just returned from a wonderful trip to the Lake Geneva area. You can ride a boat from Montreux to Lausanne along the lake shore, docking in several towns along the way and passing the beautiful Lavaux vineyards on the hillsides. Several departures every day, a fun trip, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Some of the boats are old paddlewheelers. From Lausanne, you can take another boat across the lake to Evian, France and return the same day. Then return to Montreux by boat or train.
