current weather in Wengen-Lauterbrunnen-Murren--Gimmelward etc

I've heard that this has been an unusually wet Spring and early Summer. Could someone please tell me how is it now? Betty

It is easy to look up weather on any weather website. Try weather underground for instance.

We have been to the area twice for several days each and stayed in an apartment in the home of a local. When we were heading out for a hike I asked him the weather forecast for the day and he laughed. He said, " This is the alps, there is no forecast!" In other words, it can change so quickly you have to just be prepared for anything.

I guess I was really lucky last year: spent 6 days there and they ALL were sunny!

Yes, us too! We were there at the end of June and also end of September. We had great weather both times, but on our last day there was a forecast for rain and the other for snow the day we left! We were sitting waiting to catch the gondola and the fog was so thick we couldn't see anything. I was so happy it was our departure day!

Weren't we lucky that the travel karma was smiling on us!

I do think that some summers tend to be dry--like last year--and others tend to be wet like perhaps this year. Not too long along Paris was under water. . .

Having spent many summers in the region I can say two things:

  1. Figure that half your days there will be overcast, misty, rainy, etc. Use those for shopping, or visiting Staubach Falls and Trummelbach Falls (it is INSIDE a mountain--rain is no problem).

  2. If you wake up to a clear day, get going on a hike IMMEDIATELY! It is likely to cloud up by the afternoon.
Absolute best hike for a clear day: Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegg, 1.5 hours plus transportation to and fro.

We were just in Mürren last week. Before arriving, I kept checking the weather forecast which showed rain and thundershowers for everyday we were schedule to be in the Alps. What we actually experienced was some rain for a short period of time and then it cleared up. Out of the 3 days we were in Mürren, we had two sunny beautiful days and one foggy day. On the foggy day we headed down to Lauterbrunnen where it was clear and we did the valley walk. The Berner Oberland is amazing. Enjoy!

Yes, it's amazing how Murren can be socked in with pea-soup thick fog and Lauterbrunnen be perfectly clear down below. You really can't predict the weather there.

Thanks to you all for sharing your experiences & knowledge. It sounds (1) unpredictable and (2) wonderful no matter what!
