Hi How hard is it to get to the cruise port in Basel? Our tour will not include transport from ship to airport or train.
thanks
There are several different places they dock in Basel. Ours was an easy tram ride from the center of the old town. At worst, you hire a taxi. You can easily get from Basel old town area to the airport or train station via public transportation.
Diane, Easy. But:
1) Where are you starting from? Basel SBB (main station), Basel airport or somewhere else?
2) There are three possible places cruise ships dock in Basel: St Johann, Klybeck and Dreiländereck.
You need to find out which one your ship docks at. I have heard, they sometimes do not finally decide until the day before arriving.
St. Johann - Tram 11, to tram stop "St Johanns-Tor". Then 3 minute walk across a park.
Klybeck and Dreiländereck - These are both in the docks and are harder to reach. Tram 8 to tram stop "Kleinhünigen". Then 10-15 minute walk through the docks area.
Tram costs CHF 3.80 to or from anywhere in Basel; if you stay at a hotel in Basel you get a free tram ticket for the duration of your stay. Taxi within Basel will cost ~CHF 30-35.

And are you looking for transport to or from the ship? You post is ambiguous: "get to the cruise port in Basel? Our tour will not include transport from ship to"
