Go to Luzern. It's about 50 minutes from Zurich. But if your cruise ends in Basel, just take a train from there to Luzern.

How many days do you have? What season? My vote is for Lucerne.
It's easy to commute to the Zurich airport from Lucerne. The train goes directly into the airport, an hour + ride.

A river cruise cannot end in Zurich, as there is no navigable route there. Your cruise probably ends in Basel.
Basel is a good place to visit. Other places are Bern, Luzern, and in a pinch even Zurich...

As stated above your cruise likely ends in Zurich but the ship includes transportation to Zurich airport. We're doing an Emerald Cruise in May and they advertise Amsterdam to Zurich, but final dock is Basel. We're skipping the bus to Zurich and heading to Colmar for the weekend, then to Lucerne before ending up in Zurich for the flight home.
