For those lucky enough to be in Switzerland soon, here is a good list of cow parades or descents, aka alpabzug.

Thank you Laurel for the great link. We have been to Lenk for their Alplerfest, it was a great weekend, well worth the visit. I've bookmarked the link and hope to make good use of it. September-October is a great time to visit Switzerland.
Laurel, thank you for this. Only a fraction of these were on this site when I looked a few months ago. Good to know they update it as the villages schedule their own Alpfahrt.

Travelerguy, was it hard to get to Lenk? We are looking at possibly being in the Oberland during that time and its the only cow parade happening that we can tell during those dates. Can you get there easily enough by train and where did you stay?
Hi JR,
I don't recall from what direction we went to Lenk, but the key thing is taking a train to Zweissimmen. From there you hop on the next train going up the valley to Lenk. It wasn't very long from Zweissimmen to Lenk, and it was a very scenic trip.
As for hotels, we stayed at the Hotel Garni Alpenruh. It was very nice, run by some very nice folks. We were lucky we got a room with a balcony overlooking the street. The cow parades (on and off for a few hours) would pass our balcony, so sometimes we'd just watch from the room.
This was all in 2013, but probably is the same today.
Regarding Lenk, I forgot to mention that on another day, we took a bus ride further up the valley. It was beautiful and we had lunch at the top. And also that you should vote for "Miss Lenk" at the fest.
