Cost & routing Golden Pass train broken up w/ 2 nt stop in Murren

Hello - Can you help me figure out the cost to take the Golden Pass from Lucern to Interlaken & then from Interlaken to Montreaux.

We are a family of 2 adults, 2 kids (12 & 9) traveling on weekdays in June. I'm trying to determine if the 1/2 price fare card is worth it for us. We plan to spend two nights in Murren in between the Golden Pass segments and will take the lifts and other shorter scenic trains around the Berner Oberland.

I have checked the Swiss Railway website and have been unsuccessful in finding the correct routing & cost.

The only other train travel we will take in Switzerland is from Zurich airport to Lucern and from Montreaux to Lausanne (TGV to Paris from there).

You need to use the www.sbb.ch site and input each journey. I see it as
ZRH>Luzerne 30 CHF
Luzerne> Muerren 52 CHF
Muerren>Montreux (via Zweisimmen) 73 CHF
Montreux>Lausanne 13 CHF
Total 168 CHF per adult
Looks like buy one Half Fare Card, get the free Family Card so the youngen's travel free, second adult buys full fare tickets for each leg.

The Half Fare Card (HFC) usually offers the biggest bang for the buck. While in Murren do you plan on going to the Jungfrau? If so then the savings on that trip alone using the HFC would almost pay the cost of the purchase price of the HFC.

Yes, do get the free Swiss Family card so the 2 kids travel everywhere in Switzerland with you for free. Don't know why the previous poster would tell you to buy only 1 HFC. Each adult must have a HFC for themselves.

Depends on your plans. Since the nominal adult full fare tickets for the entire journey the OP described are less then 240 CHF, the only reason to buy it is to get the free Family Card. Otherwise, the Half Fare Card actually costs more than just buying full fare tickets. Again, you need to know EXACTLY what tickets you need in order to make a sensible choice. All the cost info is available at www.sbb.ch.

OP said they "will take lifts" in the Berner Oberland -- need to know what is planned to truly compare costs. Even just the Schilthorn can make the Half Fare Card worth it. Run the numbers!

I have remember some people posting that OBB prices are based on a half fare card and without it you would need to double the price of transport tickets. For our two trips to Lauterbrunnen Valley, we used Half Fare Cards. I do not remember whether it was one or two. Sam's prices seem about right. Remember regular trains take the route in addition to the panorama trains. Regular trains should be cheaper but the same view. Remember to buy your tickets about 90 days out for best prices.

Thanks to all.

I'll need to look at the costs of the lifts and Jungfraujoch train and decide.

Is it true Swiss train tickets are the same price regardless if you buy in advance or day of travel?

Sam's prices are the correct fullmfare----he is well aware of the pricing on the SBB website ( showing the half-fare price on the results page for a route). He took that into account in the prices he listed.

You can find the price of the Jungfrau trip on SBB or Jungfrau.ch. I looked at yesterday for someone. From Interlaken Öst, the full fare is 208.80 round trip. From Lauterbrunnen it would be slightly less (deduct the fare from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen).

For the Schilthorn, use Schilthorn.ch
