A friend told me that when they were in Murren last year, there was a lot of construction going on around the town and that it was vey noisy. They told me to perhaps avoid Murren because of this. Does anyone know if this is still going on this summer?
There is still construction going on. But the noise was mostly due to the demolishing of part of the old cable car station. And the noise is not really an issue if you do what you should do anyway: Get up early.
We just spent 3 nights in Mürren near the middle of the town and the noise was no problem. Just don’t choose a hotel right near the station for the Schilthorn.
I just visited Murren.. beautiful view from the train station....
Even though you may not get noise.. there are many construction trucks going back and forth thru the town..
The dust and exhaust fume was not so nice..
i would suggest more quiet Wengen..
Heck, even if there’s construction/noise in Murren this summer, it’s probably much too late to book accommodations this summer anywhere else (!).
Thanks, everybody! We're booked to stay in Lauterbrunnen, and are considering a day trip to Murren. Sounds like the construction won't really deter us because the worst of it is passed. Can't wait to visit this area!
We will be in Mürren in the 2nd week of September staying by the cog rail train station. Will there be much noise & construction fumes?
We spent 3 nights in Murren last week and didn’t notice any issues at all except right near the Schilthorn station at the opposite end of town from the cogwheel station.
