Construction in Murren?

My wife and I were deciding between staying in Murren or Wengen for a trip in August. Does anyone know if the construction is all finished in Murren? If not, we were going to stay in Wengen.

There is construction in both villages.
The big hotel and train station are done in Mürren, but they’re still doing some work on the Schilthornbahn. In Wengen they’re building a new hotel towards the back of the village and eventually starting on some other projects (dates TBD). You aren’t going to get away from construction in the Jungfrau region completely, but as long as you’re not staying right next to it, I wouldn’t worry about it. If you tell me what hotels you’re considering I can help better.

I appreciate the reply! Right now, we are considering Hotel Silberhorn and Hotel Beausite Park and Spa in Wengen and Hotel Eiger for Murren. But, open to other options.

None of those will have issues, other than that some of the Wengen project dates are TBD, so I can’t 100% confirm August. Eiger is on the opposite side of town as the Schilthornbahn where construction is. Silberhorn is right next to the train station in Wengen, so it’s a bustling area in general. Beausite is a further walk from the train, but nice and also away from construction. Maya Caprice in Wengen is also nice and convenient.

The big (provisionally called W5) project in Wengen has not started yet, and I do believe that it will take at least a couple of years to get all the needed permits squared. (About everyone in the village is protesting it...)

But some hotels are being renovated right now, but that is always ongoing. There is enough construction in Wengen that we even have our own concrete plant up here :-)

Thank you so much for the info! Is there any construction around Hotel Alpenrose in Wengen?

Be prepared for an uphill hike if you stay there every time you want to go to the train station.

Stayed at the Hotel Edelweiss in Murren in January. Short level walk to the train station. The Hotel is done, the gondola construction essentially done and at the other end of town anyhow. Edelweiss strongly recommended, especially the "new" rooms with the larger balconies.
