Connection times on Zurich to Geneva from US flight

Has anyone recently flown from the US to Zurich and connected on to Geneva?

We are thinking of a trip to Switzerland in August. One of our best choices is a United flight from San Francisco to Zurich that connects to a Geneva flight. There are two hours and five minutes between flights. The flight would be on a Thursday with the flight to Geneva leaving at about 6:20 pm

Is two hours reasonable for getting through passport control, security etc in Zurich. We would not have a checked bag which probably helps.

Thanks.

BTW I just flew to Paris from San Francisco and back about two weeks ago with no problems with security/passport control etc atTerminal 1 with United. Zipped through in under 30 minutes both ways.

2 hours should be plenty. See if there is another flight after 6:20 pm, as a back up.

Remember, you can always get to Geneva by train in 3 1/2 hours with frequent departures from Zurich airport, usually with one connection after 6 pm.

How about a sleepover near Zurich airport to get over jet lag and then a great relaxed train ride in the morning.

Well, It looks to me like you are actually flying Swiss, departing at 7:35 pm, arriving Zurich at 3:50 pm the following day, connecting to a Swiss flight 2 hours and 5 minutes later at 5:55 pm, arriving at Geneva at 6:55 pm. Swiss also has flights at 9:05 pm and 10:45 PM, so I am sure you will get there, even with a late inbound flight. United and Swiss are codeshare partners.

I have done this a couple of times and never had any trouble, obviously before EES, but I would not worry.

Thanks for the feedback. We are hooking up with a tour in Geneva back to Zurich so will be on some trains then. But I am aware of a train as a fall back.

Thank you Sam, for checking specific flights and sharing your experience. Very helpful. Given that Zurich airport is known for it organization and we won't be traveling right a rules change, I am hoping it will be efficient.

Last time was in 2023 with a large group. Checking for the Geneva flight, we had to take a bus out to the plane parked on the tarmac. We were apparently missing one member of the group as they came on the bus asking for the missing passenger to identify themselves, in case they missed them at check in. Nobody spoke up. Then, within a minute, the missing passenger came waltzing in, having made a last minute bathroom stop. So they do look for you if you are missing at check in for the connecting flight.

BTW, That was with a 1 hour 15 minute change.
