I will be flying through Zurich from the US on the way to Budapest, Hungary in April. The flights I am looking at allows me 90 minutes to make my connection. I will be switching from Swiss Air to Austrian Air. Does anyone know if 90 minutes will be sufficient? Swiss Air says that standard is 45-50 minutes but that seems very brief.
I have done many transfers in Zurich in less time than that. Austrian and Swiss are both Star Alliance members.
BTW, I am very surprised that you have a nonstop from Zurich to Budapest on Austrian, since I only see nonstops operated by Swiss (or Helvetic, a Swiss partner). Are you sure you do not have an additional connection in Vienna? That would make sense.
Are these two flights 2 separate itineraries or are they on one itinerary (one ticket)?
Thank you for the replies. My error on the airlines. It shows that we would be flying (from Tampa) into Zurich on Edelweiss and departing on Swiss Air. It would be on one itinerary.
Edelweiss is owned by Swiss. Like I said, I have connected numerous times coming from the US in Zurich, and I never had a problem. I did it this January with a 75 minute connection time and it was not a problem.
If your inbound flight is severely delayed, Swiss has a later flight to Budapest they can probably get you on.
