Where has anyone read that Switzerland will be open in the fall for US travelers???
No news yet on when Switzerland plans to open to US tourists or what any requirements will be. I think some, myself included, have made reservations in the hope it will open. If not, I will just reschedule again. But, if it does open, I don't need to scramble for last minute reservations. Also, I previously had hotel and air reservations and it is so much easier to just reschedule than cancel and start reservations from scratch.
Switzerland plans a gradual reopening as follows:
- The first is the protection phase, which they are currently in. This involves vaccinating the vulnerable and could last until the end of May 2021.
- The second is the stabilisation phase. This involves vaccinating all adults who want the shot. At this point bars could begin to open and larger events could be allowed with access limited to those who have been vaccinated, recovered or recently tested negative. This phase could last until the end of July 2021.
- The third phase, known as the normalisation phase, would involve a gradual wind down of remaining measures as the number of cases declines.
As far as I know, there have been no announcements on the opening of the border to US tourists. I believe the next announcement on further easing of restrictions is expected on May 26th.
