Combining lake cruise and trip up TItlis

We will be in Luzern for 3 nights in early October. Seeking advice on how to combine a trip up Titlis with a lake cruise. It sounds like we should take the train from Lucern to Engelberg early in the day for our trek up Titlis. Once we get back to Engelberg, is there a way to connect with a cruise boat without going all the way back to Luzern? We are wondering whether it is best to try and combine the 2 outings or treat each on separately? Thank you for your advice.

I didn't go up Mt. Titlis when I was in Luzern. But if you go up Mt. Rigi (which I did do) or Mt. Pilatus (which I did not), it's very easy to combine either of these with a lake excursion.

The ride from Luzern to Vitznau (for Rigi) was beautiful, as was the ride up Rigi itself. Just beware that if you follow Rick's directions and come back down via Weggis, it's a VERY STEEP 10 minute walk downhill to the boat dock at Weggis. If that's an issue, come down via Vitznau, where the train station is a short and only slightly inclined walk down to the boat dock.

You are saying trek up Titlis. May I assume you mean by cable car? I would go to Mt.Titlis only if the weather is ideal which is not too often in October. Otherwise you spend not negligible money for train and cable car and see just fog. I don't know what lake cruise you want to take but the best would be to go all the way back to Luzern. The only other option as I see it would be to get off train in Stans, take a taxi to Stansstad and board scheduled ferry there. If there is bus going at that time you can take it instead and save money. You can combine the two outings depending on schedules. I think I would do it separately. Days are getting short in October.

We took the boat to Weggis, had lunch, went on to Vitznau, went by train up to Rigi Kulm, then back to Vitznau by train and finally the boat back to Lucern. It was a wonderful day, good weather, and great fun.
