Checking the SBB site about Swiss passes, it seems the Swiss Card is the better choice. But I'd like to put it to other travelers: We are flying into Zuerich, taking the train to the Brienz area as a base for 4 days/5 nights. From there we'll also want to explore the Lauterbrunnen valley. So all activity will be around Lake Brienz & the valley (Murren, et al). We then go on to Vienna. I found the 2 country pass more expensive than individual country options. Advise please! Thanks.
We would not recommend the 2-country pass, both because it only comes in more-expensive 1st class and because it gives you less coverage and discounts in Switzerland. Either a Swiss Pass or a Swiss Card is usually a good value. The 2nd-class Swiss pass for 8 consecutive days at $411 per person covers a lot of transportation, and museums, if that fits your stay). You can look at pre-booking an advance discount ticket from the border at Chur to Vienna.
