We're taking the Bernina Express south and are considering staying the night in Chur in early October. After some research we're thinking that Chur may deserve a couple days so we can take the cableway up to the Brambruesch plateau for some easy hiking. A couple years ago while in Bolzano Italy we hiked on the Alpe di Siusi and uber Bozen and really enjoyed both. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure whether hiking in higher elevations near Chur in early October will be a good option. It may be a bit cold up there! I wasn't hiking when I visited that area, but hopefully one of the others can provide some further information on that.
You may want to get a hotel close to the beautiful old town, as it's a great place to just wander around and explore. Have you booked a hotel yet? This may provide a few ideas - https://chur.graubuenden.ch/en .

Thanks Ken, I am also concerned about the weather in October and we haven't made a hotel reservation yet in Chur as we are trying to determine if we should just spend one night to catch the Bernina the next morning or a couple more so we can explore the town and surroundings. Any additional information about the Chur area is greatly appreciated.
