Chocolate Train from Montreux

We will be using the Swiss Saver Pass while in Switzerland. I want to do the route of the chocolate train without it costing us more money, Wednesday, September 10th. Has anyone done this and what connections do I have to make?

Or is it worth the extra cost for the chocolate train? I've read the pro and cons on this site but have not been able to figure out doing it on our own.

You catch the train at Montreux train station and it's direct. Not sure if the pass works. Will say the chocolate tour is worth the time and $ and the chocolate at the end of the factory tour.

To search train connections for the chocolate factory type "Broc-Fabrique" in the destination box at the Swiss Rail site (rail.ch).

While the official chocolate train is pricey it does use vintage Pullman carriages, the first class cars are very nice...like you have stepped into an Agatha Christie novel;)

Thanks, I'll look up the train schedule. What I'm trying to so is follow the route of the chocolate train without the cost as I am using a swiss saver pass. Any suggestions?

The regular trains on that route don't require reservations, so you can just jump on when using a day of your pass, and could keep your schedule flexible. For instance, trains from Montreux depart hourly, then connect at Montbovon to for the train to Gruyeres and Broc-Fabrique .

For the official departure of the Chocolate Train Excursion, reservation fee is 49 CHF with a 1st-class pass or 59 CHF with a 2nd-class pass (because this is considered a 1st-class coach and you have to "upgrade").

Thank you. Is the cost for the chocolate train per person?
