We will be staying in Wengen when this event takes place and I was wondering what to expect. I love traditional events and this sounds like fun!
And, of course, will there be a cow parade?
Looking forward to going!

The cow parades are before the Chasteilet, The dates have been posted though.
Have you seen this?

Although there is no cow parade, on Sunday there will be traditional costumes, alphorns, etc. I have only been to the Saturday night barbecue, it felt very Swiss to me - much like the small local events where I live - so not just something they do for the tourists. I think it will definitely be fun!
Thanks WengenK and SwissNomad.
SwissNomad, yes, I had seen that and appreciate your experience. A brief description doesn’t tell you the whole story.
WengenK, I did see the dates for the cow parades though just was curious if the Chästeilet included one but didn’t necessarily list it as such. I’m more than happy to be able to experience something traditional and that we’re staying there makes it easy!
I went to this a couple of years ago, and it's a terrific event. They usually have alphorns, dancers, and other folk activities, plus local crafts, clothing, foods, and cheese (of course). Although the wheels are typically divided amongst the farmers, you can purchase one to support the local dairy community.
Thanks, Catherine, it sounds wonderful! I’m glad we’ll be there to see it!
