We will be finishing the Alpine my Way tour in Chamonix on a Friday leaving from Geneva airport Monday morning. Any suggestions for those couple days before leaving?
We had planned to take a bus directly to Geneva and stay there over the weekend, but there may be other smaller towns worth spending the night in on the way to Geneva?

Two options I see.
1. Take a train to Annecy
2. Take a train to Montreux. You can get to Geneva airport as early as 6:41 am if you flight is after 9 am.
If you like mountains and hiking, you won't run out of things to do for a weekend in Chamonix. Try to visit Chalet de la Floria on the north side.
Other sights in the area are Chillon Castle in Montreux, the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, and CERN in Geneva. If you like music, look for summer events like the Montreux Jazz Festival or Gstaad Menuhin Festival for classical music.
