My Rick Steves tour ends in Chamonix (2 night stay) in late September, and I have an early morning flight out of Geneva a few days later. I would like to unwind and relax for a couple days before the flight back to the US. Does anyone recommend an area around Lake Geneva to enjoy that is also convenient to get to the Geneva airport? Or should I just stay in Chamonix to relax?
Lausanne is lovely and an easy ride to the airport. You can ride the ferries all along the lake shore, or take the train out to Vevey and Montreux. It’s also a good base for some scenic train rides. The city itself has great sights and wonderful food and shopping. You can be as laid back or active as you want.
Those are great suggestions, thank you.
I have to research how to get to the Geneva airport by 5am. Either by private transport or train. Or both.
Well said. I concur; booking a hotel near the airport prior to the departure flight the next morning makes sense. Trying to get to the airport in the middle of the night is not something I want to do.
