I need good cel service while we visit the Jungfrau Region. We would like to stay in Wengen or Lauterbrunnen. Are there any concerns I should have? If service is not good in these areas, I guess we’ll need to stay in Interlaken or Grindelwald to be safe. Thank you.
There are coverage maps on the internet. The one for sunrise is here: https://www.sunrise.ch/de/privatkunden/mobil-abos/mobilnetz/netzabdeckung/netzabdeckungskarte.html
And salt is here: https://www.salt.ch/de/coverage/
In the towns and villages (Wengen, Lauterbrunnen) you would have no problem. Up in the mountains, The coverage can come and go within a few hundred metres. That is unavoidable, radio waves do not go through solid rock and they are not going to put a transmitter into a small uninhabited valley which you can only get to on foot.
Our cell service was excellent when we were there a week ago. Seldom lost a signal even when in the mountains.
Some of our better service was in Lauterbrunnen.
Most of these large mountain stations have mobile cell antennas.
go,
I've never had any problem with cellular coverage anywhere in the Berner Oberland, including on the tops of mountains such as the Schilthorn.
Are you planning to travel with roaming from your home network, or buy a SIM once you arrive in Switzerland. That may have a bearing on the coverage.
Thank you for all the replies. I’m in Wengen now and reception is excellent.
