after all of the great advice i received i canceled a night in bern for an extra night in Lauterbrunnen. im very ecxited to ONLY have lunch in Bern now. thanks a lot for the input. now, i have a new dilemma. Im staying four nights in zofingen at a buddys house. should i trade one of those nights for an extra night in lucerne? ill be in switzerland from aug 20-28. thanks again!

How many nights do you have in Luzern as-is? Two nights is about minimum to give you a full day of mountain lifts and lake boats around there.

i will be getting into town aug 20th at around 5pm, so far just staying the one night. off to lauterbrunnen the next day at around 11am. i wont really need to do a mountain lift i assume, for i will be seeing the jungfraujoch the following day. a boat ride would be nice considering i will be holding a 1/2 fare pass.

Zofingen is only about 30 mins by train from Luzern and there is a train about every half hour from 5:00 am until about 12 midnight, so I do not see the need to stay overnight there.
In fact the trip Zofingen - Olten - Bern - Luzern - Zofingen can make a very nice round day trip. Have lunch and a walk around Bern, then on to Luzern for another walk about and dinner before heading back to Zofingen
