Can we experience snow in the last week of May in Switzerland

Hi,
We are planning our first ever Europe trip in May last two weeks. We will be in Germany for the first 5 days and rest in Switzerland, Italy (a day trip from Switzerland may be) and two nights in Paris. Flying out of there. I am very keen on having the picture perfect Swiss alpine experience and my kids are dreaming to see and touch snow. We have never experienced snow. So before I start buying snow boots and clothes, I want to make sure if we have realistic chance of experiencing snow in May and if so, which places are good? I checked forums and found out its ice melting season and many places are closed in the mountains, so not sure what to do.
Thanks a ton.

Stay in the Berner Oberland...in the villages of Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Murren. They are stunning destinations. From there you can easily visit the Jungfrau which ALWAYS has snow. But don't worry with purchasing winter weather gear (boots, special clothes). Just wear good shoes with rubber soles for traction. Dress in layers because it WILL get hot up there on a clear day with sun shining. You will be playing outside in the snow and that can really make you hot after a while. Take sun screen for your face/nose/ears.

Thanks Sam and Tim. We are not into ski, we don't know and don't have equipments etc. Kids are 4 and 5 and first time we will be exposed to snowy weather and few days in Switzerland, so I guess I should skip Zermatt. I want to take scenic trains and visit beautiful villages and also go somewhere with snow so the kids can play in snow. I will definitely consider Berner Oberland as I see it recommended in many forum. Can I take scenic train rides from there to other places.
