Can anyone tell me if I MUST have QR Code to travel in Switzerland?

Switzerland will require scanning in at restaurants starting this coming Monday, the 13th. I do not know if a CDC card will be accepted. Why not make it easy on yourself and get the Swiss app? We applied online and had our QR codes in 48 hours.

How do I get a QR code application? We thought only European citizens could get them

I leave tomorrow and applied this am through the canton of Bern as that is where I will be when this kicks in. Might have goofed as I put in my home address instead of the address of my hotel. But we shall see. I'll report back if it worked, and on how long it took. Might need to eat from grocery stores and do takeout for a day or two, but expect to figure it out once there if necessary.

FYI its not needed to eat outside. We're in Switzerland now and are not worried. I'm sure someone will feed us.

thanks everyone. I am trying to find the Covid Certificate for Kanton Zurich forms, but can't seem to see them at least not that I can make sense of in Swiss lanaguage on the Kanton Zurich site I found.. Should I request the Certificate from one of the other Kanton's that have easy English forms? This should be soo hard to find; I am feeling a bit frustrated

Char you can use any canton. It does not have to Zurich. Did you not follow the link I gave you?

Which app is it that I need to download? I tried to process my application through the canton de Valais link that others have shared. But it does not ask for my email. How do I get the code?

I also tried the link but kept getting stuck on a verification step at the end. Can someone who successfully completed it please tell us if they used a hotel address and an American phone number? I tried it with our current Airbnb address and my American mobile number (which works in Europe with our international roaming plan) and did not have any luck getting it to complete. Tried on my phone and laptop.

I just spoke to someone from the Switzerland Tourism office and asked specifically about tourists and the Covid certificate. He said that the government is still working on a streamlined, official way for tourists to get a Covid certificate, but it may take some time. The consultation with cantons will be concluded on Sept 14 and then they will decide how to implement it. For the meantime, I was told that as long as you have a paper copy of full vaccination (like what you need to enter the country), you can present this to restaurants/etc for certificate checks and it should be accepted, even if there is no QR code. Of course, there may be some individual venues that are working out how to deal with the situation and will also be confused (since this was all just announced!) but most places, especially that serve tourists, will want your business.

I know some people have been trying to get certificates from Valais or Bern, but based on my conversation, it doesn't sound like you need to stress about it. Hopefully they are coming up with a streamlined and easier way for tourists to get a certificate and it will be announced shortly.

Btw, since EU/Schengen certificates are already valid here, anyone who has one of those should be set.

We have been here since Sept 1 and can't get anywhere with the forms.
So confusing, since we're in Bern canton but going to Zurich , different cantons.

I've now applied for both French and Swiss QR codes and haven't gotten either! I arrive in Basel on Wednesday and I booked a covid test for right after my arrival at Basel airport so at least I'll have 48 hours? 72 hours? of a valid QR code if I haven't gotten either a French or Swiss code by then. I'm feeling really uncertain about whether it's a good idea to travel right now... although I'm sure once I'm on the ground in Europe, I'll be happy to be there.

I hear you meander. I have also applied for the France pass for myself for a upcoming trip and the Swiss passes for my parents who arrived there today. Applied several days ago for both , haven’t gotten anything back yet. Tourists in Switzerland are all starting to worry my parents have heard everything talking about it at the train stations etc. No one knows what to expect come Monday. Eating outside of course is fine—- unless it’s too cold or raining.
