Cable Car Schilthorn Pez Gloria

We have a 9:30 reservation on Sept. 23 at Pez Gloria. Is it possible and advisable to make reservations on the Schilthorn lift?

It is possible but not advisable (if the ticket is non-refundable). It is best to decide to go up the day of as your hotel may have a camera showing the visibility on or from the Schilthorn at 8000 feet. You do not want to buy a ticket and the mountain is covered in fog. But on 2nd thought it depends on where you are ascending from as I went up from Lauterbrunnen.

Possible, yes, and probably advisable if it's not built into the first reservation. See https://schilthorn.ch/en/Guaranteed_Departure_Time. This boarding reservation for 5 CHF lets you skip the regular boarding lines, which I heard were pretty long this summer. Can be purchased up until 21:00 the day before departure, online or at lift stations. It's separate from the actual ticket or pass that covers the cost of your ride.

I personally wouldn't buy in advance. I'd like to see what I'm getting.

There's a TV monitor of the Schilthorn peak (Piz Gloria) in the Murren cable car station, or, you can check yourself using

I would get a reservation, but if the weather is bad don't go. We were up top about 45 minutes before the clouds rolled in and you could not see anything.

Do we need a reservation to eat brunch at Piz Gloria mid-September? i thought we just went up there when the weather was good and had brunch.

Cynthia, I don't know about the necessity of brunch reservations. But one thing that has changed this year is that the Schilthorn Cable Car is fully covered by a Swiss Travel Pass, so nobody who has one has to think twice about paying an additional ticket cost, nor stand in line to buy one. They might not even wait for good weather.
