Cable Car Out of St Moritz on 22 May, 2014?

On 22 May 2014, we will be traveling on the Bernina Express – 10:03 Depart Tirano to St Moritz with 12:17 arrival.

I have read in other forum posts that taking a cable car into the alps is possible from St Moritz.

I've been looking on the St Moritz web-site to try to figure out how we get from the St Moritz train station to take the cable car ride (up to the Piz Nair?).

Do I need to buy tickets or make reservations in advance?

If so, what tickets do I need to buy & where do I buy them?

Also, how much time should plan for the round-trip cable car ride?

You are a tad early. The lifts are closing now and will not reopen for summer until June 21. Look on page 5 of this: http://www.engadin.stmoritz.ch/files/sommercontent/zwischensaisonliste_fruehling14.pdf

I got this advice from a hiking colleague: Don't set your sites too high; expect to keep your hiking below 3,000 feet of elevation in May.
