Cable car from Stechelberg Station to Gimmelwald Station

We're going to Switzerland next month staying in Gimmelwald. What is the cost of the cable car? I'm seeing some posts (when I googled it) that say $128 per person each way?? I'm assuming there must be a way to do it less expensively. Any help is appreciated.

I think you mean up to Schilthorn? The cable car from Gimmelwald down to Stechelberg is just a 6 minute ride, so not expensive at all.

All the names are confusing as some are very similar. If you mean up to Schilthorn, AKA the james bond mountain, you can find those prices here:

https://schilthorn.ch/en/Infos/Timetable__and__Tariff

Round trip Stechelberg to Schilthorn and back is CHF 108 with no pass discounts. If you have a Pass, you can view the discounts received with those on the website.

I am no expert and haven't been there yet. (9 days! But we are staying in Wengen.)

But, I'm seeing Stechelberg - Gimmelwald with return at CHF 12.80 for adults.

Are you planning on any transit passes? Price would be CHF 6.40 with Swiss Half Fare Card. Depending on length of your trip, Berner Oberland Pass or Jungfrau Pass could be worth it.

edit: and as Carrie suggests, if you mean to Schilthorn, that is different!

We had the Jungfrau Pass when we were there last month (recommended by the Wengen management company for our apartment). It did not cover the tram up to Murren. We had to pay for those tickets. It did cover the train and the tram from Lauterbrunnen to Murren.

As the others have mentioned, the cable car fare from Stechelberg to Gimmelwald is very reasonable. That first segment is steep so it's an exhilarating ride! I've stayed in Gimmelwald in the past and really enjoyed the experience. If you want to explore Mürren and want to save a few Francs, you can walk up the paved trail from Gimmelwald. Of course, it's all uphill but doesn't take long.

If you want to visit Piz Gloria (Schilhorn) from Mürren, the fare is CHF85.60 return (discounted with passes).
