Buying German Pumpernickel ( Vollkornbrot) in Switzerland?

We will be spending 2 weeks Switzerland and the Mont Blanc area, in self-catering apartments in Switzerland, then an inn-to-inn hike hike around Mont Blanc. I would like to be able to make sandwiches for our hiking days, but I cannot eat wheat bread. At home I buy German Pumpernickel rye bread, a dense brick of whole rye grains and rye flour. Like this:

Will I be able to find this type of ryebread in Switzerland, or should I bring it from home?

I like that kind of bread too! It's one of my favorite lunches with some good German mustard and a thin slice of salami. I looked on the coop.ch website and they have that style and brand. Have fun. We are going to be in Switzerland too for 3 weeks this summer and I can't wait.

Careful. Korn in German is just grain, so Vollkornbrot could be any whole grain bread. It could be wheat. Rye is Roggen. Look for Roggenvollkornbrot. You might want to learn the names of other non-gluten breads as well. For instance, spelt is Dinkel.

Of course, you will be in the French speaking part of Switzerland, so now what is the French word for Roggenvollkornbrot?

In Switzerland, before we go to Mont Blanc (Chamonix) we will be in the German-speaking area, so I can read the labels.

Mona, glad to know we may find the right thing at Coop.
