Buying cable car tickets not covered by Swiss pass

I will have a Swiss pass during my visit and wanted to know if I should select the half fare card when purchasing point to point tickets not covered by the pass. I don’t see an option for Swiss Pass on the SBB app

No, the discounts are different for the Half Fare card and the Swiss Travel Pass.

I always get the Swiss Travel Pass and just buy my tickets at the cable car station ticket booth. Just show them your Pass, tell them where you want to go, and they will give you the correct ticket.

What cable cars are you looking at? If they are not covered by the STP, there is no reason to buy in advance.

You shouldn't buy these tickets until you have looked at the 24 hr weather forecast. Buying in advance could result in your visiting a fogged in mountain summit.
Have a great trip!

Schilthorn tickets are very easy to buy at the Schilthornbahn station in Murren. There is never a line, the ticket office workers speak great English and there is a live webcam on the tv right there so you can see if there is going to be a view right then. If you get there and see that it’s clouded over on the tv but decent in Murren you can wander around the village, ride the funicular up to Allmendhubel, visit Gimmelwald, etc. and wait to see if it clears up before purchasing tickets.
