Boarding the Grütschalp -> Mürren train at Winteregg

Hi again, just a quick question: if you're in Lauterbrunnen, and you want to get from there to Mürren, is it possible to take the cable car up to Grütschalp, then walk to Winteregg, then board the train at Winteregg to Mürren?

(Rick says that the more interesting section to hike between Grütschalp and Mürren is the first section until Winteregg, so I'm wondering if it's feasible to hike the interesting bit then jump on the train for the remainder, or if you have to commit to either taking the train the whole way or hiking the whole way.)

Yes, you can certainly do that. You can jump on and off the train at any of the stops.

There are cable cars up to the alp from both ends of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. There is a train that runs along the top of the cliff between both cable cars with stops along the way in both directions at places like Winteregg. It sounds complicated, it's not. Don't worry about it, once your there it will make perfect sense. You can hike along, up, down, or whatever you feel like. And then there are more cable cars/clog wheel trains up from Murren on both sides of that town. And on the other side of Lauterbrunnen Valley there are more trains and cables over the top and down again. With hiking trails every which way. You won't have a problem figuring it out once there. And you won't be able to make a plan until you know the weather for that day. J
