BO to Paris train ticket question

We plan to purchase the Half Fare Care + BO Pass for our 4 night stay in Wengen.

My question is: If the BO Pass covers trains until Bern, do I simply buy train tickets from Bern to Paris and use the BOP to cover us to Bern? Or do I need an actual ticket from Interlaken to Bern on the Eurocity train even with the BO pass?

And is it better to purchase through SBB app (I already have downloaded...it says Bern to Basel Reservation not possible - does that mean you can't do reserved seating, but you still get a ticket between the two? Basel to Paris shows "reservation included") or better to use trainline?

  1. Never ever use trainline or a 3rd party site. Book directly through the actual train company to avoid fraud or third party issues.

  2. You are correct, your BO pass IS your ticket from Wengen to Bern.

  3. There are never reservations on the Swiss portions of those trains, you just pick whatever seats you want in your class (1st or 2nd). They'll assign you seats from Basel to Paris, so you'll have to pay attention to the car # and seat numbers when boarding at Basel.

  4. Purchase through SBB all the way to Paris on one ticket or on SNCF on one ticket (the French railway system). If you purchase through SBB, make sure to select half fare so that your Swiss portion is priced correctly. If you buy from Bern to Paris on SNCF, select "Halbtax" at checkout. That's their acknowledgement that you have the HFC for the Swiss portion.
