BO Itinerary critique

Hey guys,

Thanks for all your posts here and RS guides, it's been very helpful while planning this trip. Should be green lit for next summer and just wanted to see how this rough itinerary looked (ie too much/too little). Still not sure exactly which village to stay in yet, doesn't look like any wrong choices. It's a bit condensed but this is what I had in mind. This is in no particular order and planned around weather. Apologize for any gross spelling

Day 0-travel to BO

Day 1-rainy day
AM-bike around lauterbrunnen, see Trummelbach falls
PM-relax or head down to lake

Day 2-Grindelwald day
AM Grindelwald First
Afternoon-Grindewald/Pffingsteen

Day 3-Top of europe
AM-Jungfroch
Afternoon-Kleine schedegg

Day 4-Murren day
AM-Murren north face
Afternoon Via ferrata

Day 5-Oeschenin
AM-Lake oeschenin hike
PM-dinner in interlaken

Day 6-Open/weather buffer
Options-return to Kleine schedegg, walk towns, paragliding, harder kulm

Day 7-Descent
AM Head to Lucerne, see town
PM Relax

Day 8-Relax day in Lucerne
AM-relax or could fit in Stoos
Day 9-Travel home

Great plan. I like that you put in “rainy day” as it can rain in the BO even during July-September. The pace means a rainy day can be worked around.

The easiest base town will be Lauterbrunnen as it allows the fastest connections to get you to Grindelwald, Murren and Kleine Scheidegg. You also could stay the first 3 nights in Lauterbrunnen and the remainder in awesome Murren.

Go to Oeschinensee above Kandersteg on a sunny day. To see the turquoise color of the lake, plan to be there between 11:30am and 1:30 pm . There’s a cafe at the top by the lake.

In general I think it looks good. I'd split up your Murren day into 2 days and add in Schilthorn/Birg. Maybe AM Schilthorn/Birg, PM Via Feratta + Gimmelwald and then on a separate day North Face hike counterclockwise from Allmendhubel + maybe some extra time in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, wandering around Murren or paragliding from Murren.

For your open day, I'd add in Wengen/Mannlichen > walk to Kleine Scheidegg or Schynige Platte before Harder Kulm.

Do not waste time moving between Lauterbrunnen and Murren. They are 20 minutes apart from each other, no reason to do that. Lauterbrunnen may be the most convenient, but Wengen is far prettier views if you get a southern facing balcony and is still very centrally located.

At least do a lake cruise in Luzern, if you're not going to go up one of the mountains there. I'd do that over seeing the town.

Thanks so much guys!
Will make sure I get on/in the lake.
I’ll also split up the Murren days. I think I need to start timing things out to get an idea of which village. Would prefer car free and stay in one location

I would recommend lodging in either Wengen or Murren, you won't regret it, and won't want to leave.
One of the issues with sleeping in Lauterbrunen is that it sits in the shadows of the peaks for parts of the day. Murren and Wengen are higher up, on opposite sides of the "v". Check out some u- tube videos in order to visualize.

Ideally, I'd go in September, and avoid the summer tourists. I realize that doesn't fit into everyone's schedules.

You have a good pace and have done great research. I'm sure you'll fall in love with all things Swiss and want to return.
Safe travels!
