BO Foodie Questions :)

Alright, so I know it's "touristy", but I love cheese and it's my first time to Europe and obviously, my first time to Switzerland lol. So even though it will be summer and we won't be in the French part of Switzerland...

-Any decent places for fondue for ONE person and raclette in the BO (base of Lauterbrunnen but will be traveling throughout the other BO villages as well if there's a particularly good version somewhere else). I'm seeing a lot of restaurants that want fondue to be for 2 people, but my husband HATES cheese besides mozzarella or ricotta in baked ziti (yes it was almost a deal breaker for me lol). So are there any places in the area that will do cheese fondue for one person? Also, we will probably spend one day in Lucerne or Bern, so if there are any restaurants in either of those towns with one-person fondue, I'd be interested in that as well :)

-Definitely would like to get some really fine Swiss chocolate. Laderach really piqued my interest (and it seems that we can get it if we visit Lucerne or Bern, or can even go to Interlaken if we don't make it to the stores in the other cities), but would like to hear other people's suggestions if there are other brands- or even local chocolate shops (that aren't a major chain) in either Bern, Lucerne, or the BO/Interlaken area that we should check out.

-We know that even a moderately priced meal in Switzerland is not moderately priced lol, but would love to hear your favorite BO area restaurants- preferably with a view or outside seating... somewhere between 60 and 100 CHF for lunch or dinner I'm guessing is reasonable (correct me if I'm wrong though). We will probably only do one meal out a day to save money- if we eat lunch out, then dinner will be from Migros or Coop, and vice versa; we also have a small kitchen to do breakfast- but if there's a good Swiss breakfast that we should try at some point, let me know! :) Also, if there are any secret spots that would get us a great lunch or dinner for less than 60 CHF, by all means- share away lol!

Thanks as always- getting so excited!

I've eaten fondue a few times as a solo traveler so I think you'll find it by reading menus as you stroll. Hotel Restaurant Silberhorn (from Rick's book) charges 24 chf per person for fondue and doesn't mention a minimum on their PDF menu. Also check Hotel Restaurant Oberland (no menu online). If you want all-you-can-eat raclette, look for the French term raclette à volonté.

Thank you Laura! That is definitely helpful.. especially the "all you can eat" part! :) (and we'll be right by both the Silberhorn and Oberland, so that's perfect).

We had a fantastic, simple (CHEAP!) lunch a few weeks ago at the Hotel Pension Gimmelwald. It was 10 CHF for a huge bowl of the soup of the day and several hunks of bread, both clearly homemade and just the thing to fortify us after some hiking. Even with a beer and a cider, I don't think we could have gotten away for much less at the Coop. And the view from their back terrace is jaw dropping. We ate well all over Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, but there's not a more memorable meal from our whole vacation. As a fellow cheese lover, I have to also mention that you'll be delighted by the selection at even the most humble convenience-type shop. Enjoy!
